And the constraints: what is actually possible given the relationship, the history, and the practical circumstances. Some outcomes are unavailable. A brief that acknowledges those constraints produces realistic guidance. A brief that ignores them produces advice the person cannot act on.
The Validation Trap
AI briefed with one side of a conflict will almost always produce advice that validates that side. This is not a malfunction — it is the logical output of the information provided. If you describe someone’s behavior without naming any context that might explain it, the AI has no basis for considering any other interpretation. If you describe the conflict in terms of what the other person did wrong, the AI’s analysis will be organized around what the other person did wrong.
This feels useful in the moment. It confirms that your experience is real and your frustration is legitimate. But it produces guidance that will fail on contact with the actual relationship, because the actual relationship involves another person who has their own account of the same events — an account that is also real, also legitimate, and also incomplete.
